Exploring food justice and antipoverty activism

Two things for next time:

1. On this Google Doc, would the recorder for each group record their group’s ideas about things we can do for Ellie?

2. Read these articles about our community partners:

"SAME Cafe: The restaurant where you pay what you can"
"Pay-What-You-Can Restaurants Dish Up Dignity in Denver"
"Fire burns Catholic Workers out of Five Points. Development booms"
"Dorothy Day"

They’re not super long articles, but they’ll give you a good sense of the philosophy behind the work we’ll be joining in. The first two articles are about SAME Cafe and Cafe 180. The second pair are about the Denver Catholic Worker House and about Dorothy Day, who inspired SAME and 180. The articles will not only help prepare us for our service work, but for our discussion Tuesday of "Weediquette," the short documentary about Denver gentrification that we’ll watch in class; so please read carefully. (Again: they’re not long articles).
